Deckhand
The deckhand position is broken down into two jobs- boat work and yard work. When on a boat trip the deckhand is in charge of general maintenance, cooking, cleaning, painting, hourly engine room checks, maintaining engine room logs, and throwing lines on barges. On boat trips, crew members work on a 6 hours on, 6 hours off schedule. Generally working four weeks on with two weeks off.
When not working on a boat, deckhands report to the yard to work Monday through Friday 7:30 to 4:00 with a 30 minute lunch and go home every day. Work on the yard can be include assisting welders, working with our mechanic, sandblasting, painting, pumping out barges, landscaping, and general cleaning.
